Endless Roads for a Creative Mind

From the tropics of El Salvador, José Valle has the potential to become the next great innovator.
José, 17, a rising senior at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills, N.C. has a creative mindset. He constantly finds himself creating, designing or imagining elaborate ideas. He attributes this to his foreign roots.
“ The fact that I’m different helps me embrace others differences and allows me to think in a unique way,” José said.
When he was younger, José was rather reserved. He kept to himself and worked through puzzles and drawing. “My love for creating things really opened a lot of doors for me and gave me a vast range of opportunities,” José said.
Though he has many talents, José primarily focuses on his love for music. This desire gave him the idea of becoming a music video producer.
“ I have an image that no one else has and I can use this image to effectively change the industry to something better,” José said.
Playing clarinet in his school’s concert band, he uses this experience to view music in a broader perspective. José tends to also imagine songs in a video aspect. Often he imagines the perfect scenario that the song could accompany.
José attributes his unique thinking from his idol pop singer Lana Del Rey.
“She just loves to express herself and I love that about her. Her music inspires me to really be me.” He said.
In addition to music, José has a passion for painting and creating pictures. His work never keeps a common theme, ranging from animals to flowers to portraits of his friends.
“I always enjoy painting for my friends because it allows me to see how I can make an impact on people.” José said.
The work he produced inspired him to do more with his talents. Hence, sparking the desire to paint and design his room. Straying away from the norm, José decided to design his room after a Japanese village with blossom trees and bamboo images on various parts of his walls.
Whether through music or art, José will always find a way to express how he feels. However, with a mindset as creative as his, the sky is the limit.
